How Dates Are Detected

Dates are first found on the school's own device. When Smart Features is turned on (a per-newsletter setting, off by default), the text of an issue is also sent to a third-party service (Google Gemini) to refine those dates — event names, times, and locations. With Smart Features off, nothing is sent and detection stays on the device. Placeholder — expand with retention and that it is not used for anything else.
